Students at Waimea College can be involved in Music both as co- and extracurricular activities through the wide range of tuition, ensemble participation and performance opportunities on offer.

Our itinerant music scheme offers students group tuition in Voice, Guitar, Brass, Wind and String instruments. Ensembles available are: Jazz Band, Guitar Ensemble, Camerata Choir, Belle a Cappella Choir, Concert Orchestra and Waimea Ensemble.

Waimea College also boasts a designated music computer suite with up-to-date music software, a professional-standard recording studio and a wide range of instruments and equipment for student use.

Students at Waimea College enter Rockquest, Nelson Chamber Music Competitons, The Big Sing, JazzQuest and our own annual Performing Arts competition. We offer students opportunities to perform at events such as Nelson Arts Festival, Isel in Bloom, Nouveau Design Awards, as well as in community settings such as rest homes and local functions.
