Gifted and talented students (GATE) are identified in year 9 and placed within a class with a tailored programme which aims to develop their potential. Students are extended and in year 10 they sit the year 11 NCEA Science programme which helps to open up their curriculum options in senior years. GATE students are mentored and encouraged to take up academic opportunities that will showcase their talents so they grow in confidence of their abilities.
