What we offer

Opening Hours

Library Familiarisation

All new students receive a Library familiarisation session. Year 9 classes are introduced to our Library software AccessIT so that they can search the catalogue to find books and resources available for loan. They can log in to manage overdue books, write book reviews, reserve books and create reading lists.

Students who miss this session or want a reminder about some of the features in AccessIT can pop in during break times or email us at library@waimea.school.nz with any questions they have.

Book recommendations
Our well qualified Librarians are exceptionally good at getting books into the hands of readers. We welcome book suggestions and can provide help with selecting appropriate books for reading responses.

Research help
Email library@waimea.school.nz to request help with your research or to book in for a research interview with a Librarian.
Competitions

We host a number of competitions throughout the year and support our Year 9 and 10 students to particpate in the Readers’ Cup National Competition.

Student Librarian Programme
We welcome students from Year 9 through to Year 13 to join us as Student Librarians. Many of our Student Librarians have been with us since they started at Waimea College in Year 9. This role involves a range of tasks and training is provided. Pop in to the Library and pick up an application form or email Library@waimea.school.nz for more information.
Learning from home

If you are learning or working from home and would like help with research or borrowing books, email library@waimea.school.nz and we can guide you through the Library website and discuss a click and collect service.
